Talk about coloring me happy…that’s just how I felt after spending some time coloring up my structured prayer journal. Coloring is such an enjoyable activity. I’ll never forget how my elder daughter, Kassie, came to me one night just after she had obtained her driver’s permit, and asked if I would ride to town with her. I had been feeling a little blue because when your kids start driving, it’s a big deal!
What was so endearing about her in that moment was the reason she wanted to drive to town – to purchase some new coloring books! I loved that!!! There she was – somewhere between a little girl and a grown woman. I still feel like that sometimes, too, even at 48! I may be considered a mature Christian, but I am still a babe in so many ways.
As I colored, feeling very childlike, I recalled how much Jesus loves the little children and desires for us to come to Him with child-like faith. That is the perfect disposition to have in prayer. Funny how something so childish can be such a powerful weapon in prayer. I think from now on, when I am in need of an extra dose of faith, I am going to pull out the crayons!
“but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19:14
