He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. Psalm 1:3
There is reward in persevering faith, my friend. This is not about living like a robot, as if we are not affected by life’s troubles, but about our resolve to live a loud life of trust in God when life is hard.
A loud life of faith always exposes the fruit of the Spirit in our lives. Despite how bad things are going, outsiders will still be able to see love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, gentleness, kindness, faith, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23) in our disposition and interaction with others. Without life’s difficulties, our faith is never tested or tried; therefore it never matures. That is why we often see Christians react in less than Christ-like ways – we are the worst stewards of hardship, never learning to employ our fruit of the Spirit so it never ripens.
A healthy tree has good-looking fruit. May we be encouraged every time we see those little leafs hanging out of our prayer journal to overcome, again and again! Amen.
