When you have a terrible week, spray your favorite perfume on that week’s page(s).  It’s like offering a sacrifice of praise, which will be like a pleasing aroma to the Lord.

May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.         Psalm 141:2

When I decided to do this, I searched and searched for my Ciara perfume, even though it is not a perfume that I wear.  I am a child of the 80’s, and Ciara was the perfume of choice among my high school girlfriends.  We wore it loud and proud, too – WHEW!

I ran across some a while back and bought a bottle as a keepsake.  Needless to say that it just does not smell as great as my teenage nose thought it did.  In keeping with a “wrecking” theme, I thought it would be great to spray in my prayer journal on those tough days when a little nostalgia would be comforting – just maybe it would brighten up a stinky week.  BUT, noooo, I couldn’t find it (sigh).  So, I am instead using my current favorite, Velocity (Mary Kay – obsolete now) eau de parfume.  It smells very crisp, sweet and clean!

When I spray my perfume in my prayer journal it is like declaring resilient faith in God that trumps my discouragement and worry.  After all, He is the One truly in charge of all things.

It really does have a psychological affect.  Every time I catch a whiff of my prayer journal, it increases my faith in general.

I hope you try it and tell me about it in the comments section below…go!
