Now, this just may be the most authentic way to really wreck your prayer journal. That is, if you are not a gifted artist, like me (That’s “like me” as in “I am NOT a gifted artist!”). I have chosen Psalm 139 as a prompt unless you have a truly favorite one that you would like to put your artistic mind to. Psalm 139 has a lot of scriptures from which to choose.
I loved drawing pictures when I was young, but as you can tell, I never developed my skills beyond grade school. I had a cousin who was like a child prodigy, and she could draw family portraits by the time she was in middle school. Her talent discouraged me. I thought that since she had that talent, there was no need for me to develop mine; I couldn’t see why one family needed two artists. I’ve always looked back on that decision with regret, and yet, it has taught me to be true to who I am no matter who else as similar aspirations. God made this world big enough for everyone to be themselves.
Colossians 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”
So with that being said, find a blank page and draw a picture of one of your favorite scriptures or one from Psalm 139. Feel free to post it on Instagram and tag me @TheGinaDuke!
