My Small Beef with the War Room Movie

September 29, 2015 by Gina | 3 Comments

First off, let me just say IT IS a must see.

After a long crazy season of chaos and sadness for me and my family, my husband and I were finally able to take in the movie just this past weekend.  We both REALLY liked it! I loved seeing Priscilla Shirer and Beth Moore in it.  I thought the acting was good.  I appreciated the blessed absence of corniness that sometimes accompanies Christian-based movies. And, I loved the passion for prayer that the movie promoted, as it reminded me of my “Bapti-costal” roots.

My only concern is the nicely wrapped up ending where every one lives happily ever after because after all, “prayer works!” Right?

Now, back to reality.

I’ve been the wife of an unfaithful husband despite the fact that I was faithful in church, faithful to God, faithful to him and faithful to pray and devour scripture.

I’ve been the wife with two kids who was completely abandoned for another woman, and left to fend for herself.  Thankfully, my parents took us in.

And, I’ve been the ex-wife who really lost everything.  I dare say that there are few things more embarrassing than having your home foreclosed and appearing in bankruptcy court.

This may seem like the rant of a bitter woman, but it is not. Nothing could be further from the truth – and this is where prayer does work…

Prayer works because it changes ME – not all things, not all people and not all circumstances.  Prayer helps me align myself with God’s character, which gives me the strength and guidance to endure life’s battles.

In no way do I want to take away from anything that happened in the movie as a result of prayer because God does respond in some of those very same ways at times.  I’ve experienced it.  I’ve also experienced times when long endurance was required and the outcome was less than desirable.  And it has been in those times that I’ve learned to trust God no matter what. That, my dear friend can NOT be accomplished without a robust prayer life.

If you are a woman who is struggling, I bid you to pray!

God sees you.  He hears you.  He will be there for you!  I promise.

Regardless of how things turn out, know that He still has you in the palm of His hand.  He loves you and cares for you.  When you fully accept this truth and you live and walk in it, then you have truly won the War.

Thank you Belinda. God has restored me and my family beautifully. Both of my girls are now grown and happy. And I have a wonderful and faithful husband whom has taken good care of us. So thankful. Thank you for stopping by.
