Women’s Ministry Wednesday – Take Them a Meal!

February 25, 2015 by Gina | 7 Comments

Women's Ministry

I once tweeted,

“The church would literally starve to death if it were not for women’s ministry”.

This is no joke!  If it were not for women preparing and serving food at church, I don’t know how it would survive! Ha!

On the other hand—although we may not say that prepping and serving food is an official element of a bona-fide women’s ministry, I am sure we would all agree that it is an important need within the body of Christ.

I have been on both the giving and receiving end of a well-prepared meal.  I’ve cooked meals for single moms battling cancer, women on bed rest, and bereaved families.  I have also received some very delicious, love-filled dishes while recovering at home after surgery.

If you have been part of a small group or Sunday School class then you know the drill—the sign-up sheet is passed around the room to sign everyone up to take a meal to a hurting group member/family.

Well, I’ve got some news! That was then and this is now!!!

Did you know that there is a new way to “simplify meal coordination” – Introducting:

Women's Ministry Meals

I know what you are thinking…Why didn’t I think of this idea!  Me, too.

Simply go online to this website, set up your meal activity where others can go in and claim the date that works best for them.  You can add a map to their house along with food allergy information.

For those who say they don’t have time to cook a meal for someone, then recommend this special feature for ordering a meal to be shipped to their home. Awesomesauce!

Other special features include:

  • Recipe Ideas – Great for when you do not know what to take!
  • A Blog with additional ideas, see one of their posts here!
  • A Help Center to answer your questions
  • And Reminder Notices!

We’ve been using this website for a while now, and it has really been a success at our church.  I hope it will be for yours too.

This is so important! We had friends drop meals off after our third daughter was born; I didn’t have to cook for a week and it was so lovely! Later, we and others in our community brought meals to a friend who had suffered a mental breakdown.

I think it’s very important that we as a Church put our love into actions. A friend of mine who has walked away from the church put something on Facebook the other day. It was someone who had posted that they’d just lost their house in a fire (or something dire like that), and then there were all sorts of responses saying, “We’ll pray for you!” Only one person asked, “Where can we send money to help you?” Prayer is important, but many times we need to do more than just pray.
