I recently came across the “holding cross”. It is a nice, smoothly carved cross that fits comfortably inside the palm of your hand. Out of curiosity I ordered a few, and I have to say that the first night I held it in my hand during prayer time I was overcome with emotion.

Crosses are everywhere, aren’t they? I own cross earrings, necklaces, etc., but I’ve never had one that was this size. It truly felt comforting; I like the tangible feeling of the cross in my hand. I even felt humbled as I recalled Christ’s work of sacrificial blood and pain-staking sweat on THE Cross.

This “holding cross” is something I would like to hold during my prayer time, or take with me on errands when praying and waiting on God to move in a desperate situation. I would especially like such a cross to hold as I cry out to God to help me when overwhelmed by life.

Because I personally enjoyed it so much, and had experienced such comfort from holding the “holding cross” it made for a unique and perfect idea starter for our women’s ministry. Within our women’s ministry we have an outreach team, inreach team and blessing team to name a few. The “holding cross” could be used by any of these teams for ministry projects.

The inreach team wasted no time in determining someone whom would greatly benefit from and be comforted by the “holding cross”. By adding a sweet card of encouragement, one precious sister will be greatly blessed by this ministry gift.

Can you think of other ways your women’s ministry team could gift this “holding cross”?
