In my last post, I shared an idea of how you (Women’s Ministry Leaders) can turn a favorite book into a scripture study for your ladies. (To catch up, click here.)

Our first chapter from Ms. Marilyn Blackaby’s “Experiencing God Around the Kitchen Table” is titled, The Purpose of Life. In this chapter she shares how God saved her from a near-death experience when she was a small child, and from that time she sought out her God-given purpose for life. From this I decided to focus on a health aspect and incorporate the interactive experience of a food tasting. The recipes we tasted were:

• Parmesan Roasted Brussels Sprouts
• Avocado and Tomato Salad
• Panfried Kale
• Spinach Power Salad like Panera Bread’s!
• Sweet Potato topped with an egg, yes an egg!!!

You can go to my “Around the Kitchen Table” Pinterest board to see the recipes I prepared for the tasting here.

Our scripture for the session focused on John 10:10, which says:

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

I shared how God’s Spirit has used this verse to warn me about my poor eating habits. In addition to the enemy trying to plan my demise, I am giving him plenty of help with my gluttonous habits. Jesus came to give me life – not a full tummy!!!

Later this week, I am going to post the cost-savings tips from our second meeting of “Around the Table”, so please check back or subscribe to my blog so you will be automatically updated by clicking here and subscribing.
