What I love about transitioning from one year to another is that it is a great time for personal reflection.  I love to recap my year, and with God’s help plan for the next.  2012 was a banner year for me, with one heart-breaking loss.

In the first half of 2012, I planned for my first trip to the She Speaks Writers/Speakers Conference in July.  Along with She Speaks in July, came a reboot of a private small business adventure.  We officially launched Duke Consulting Unlimited, an HR Consulting firm, in August.  By the end of September, I launched Churchtown Ministries that wll focus on bringing spiritual clarity for Christian living.  Then came November with the official book deal from Abingdon Press for my prayer closet organizer, which is my life’s work.  (due out in November 2013 as “Organizng Your Prayer Closet: A New and Life Changing Way to Pray”)

In the midst of all the God-awesome events that took place, came a great loss.  On September 12, 2012, my friend and mentor, Steve Griffith unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord.  His home-going was one of the most significant losses of my life.  Not only was he special to me, and so many others, but he was also one of the greatest church visionaries I have ever seen).  I look forward to seeing my friend again one day.

All in all, one lesson I’ve learned is that we must keep going for Jesus.  In lieu of a New Year’s resolution, I have one word for 2013  – Discipline.  I encourage you to check out:  www.myoneword.org  and choose your one word.  Let this exercise help transform your life in the New Year!

God has greatly blessed me, my family, business and ministry in 2012, and to Him be all the glory!  Even in sadness and grief that we have experienced personally and as a nation, may God be glorified as well.  Happy New Year!!!
